Course Description
The TTPOA is proud to host Sean Harris with Sierra Tango in offering this Law Enforcement Only Sniper Instructor Course with the goal of providing current LE snipers with the tools and information to train and develop LE sniper programs.
This class is an intense Law Enforcement course designed to assist with preparation of seasoned police snipers in developing a curriculum and foundation for teaching the basics to their sniper teams. The primary goal of the Sniper Instructor Course is to enable students to safely instruct and train fellow officers in the use of the sniper rifle, scope, ammo, fundamentals, range safety, methodologies of instructing, how to test/evaluate students and set up range drills. There will be max participation through teach backs involving shooting/teaching skills within the classroom and range. Students will develop two complete sets of instructional media they can take with them to kickstart an their LE Basic Sniper Course. Upon completion of this course, students will have necessary tools to take back to their teams in which they can begin building a curriculum for sustaining/building new police snipers for their sniper program.

Duration:
This is a 4 day 50-hour TCOLE-eligible course. Training days will be long days as majority of students will be able to stay on-site and are encouraged to do so (See below for more info)
Requirements:
- LE or Military (credentials will be checked on first day)
- Served as a sniper on a current SWAT Team for a minimum of 3 years. (Letter from SWAT Commander will be requested)
- Be familiar and demonstrate proper safety habits throughout the course.
- Understanding of internal/external/terminal ballistics
- Understand the all sniper rifle positions training and evaluate their peers/students.
- Knowledge of ranging and moa/mil conversions.
- Develop sniper rifle qualifications, implement, run and score for students.
- Understand and be able to instruct all the shooting fundamentals covered in this class.
- Understand and employ proper instructional methodology while instructing and training.
- Students will be graded/evaluated on written exam, shooting qualification and teach backs.
Equipment (PER STUDENT):
- Precision Rifle capable of a minimum of 1 MOA accuracy @ 100 yards (.308 .6.5 .223)
- Rifle scope with external elevation/windage adjustments and MOA/MIL reticle
- 250 rounds of preferred ammo
- Binoculars / Spotting Scope
- COMPUTER/FLASH DRIVE for Teach Backs
- Bipod
- Tripod
- Sniper Deployment gear and equipment / BDU style pants/shirt
- Ear & Eye Protection
- Rain Gear
- Sunscreen, Insect Repellent
- Writing Material, calculator, Data Books
- Food and Water for each day of training
