Rigo Durazo
Director of Combatives- Craft International

Rigo Durazo is the senior instructor for SEACA SYSTEMA and Director of Combatives for Craft International.  His earned title is Maha Guru Durazo.  He was granted this great honor by Grand Master "Manu" Gardea.  SEACA SYSTEMA (South East Asia Combative Arts SYSTEMA) is his home system. It is a synthesis of Kali systems and several Silat systems.  He has worked in the security field since 1992 and also worked as a business liaison into Mexico helping with protection and anti-kidnapping. 

He began teaching military individuals who wanted a higher education in combatives than the line systems taught by most combative instructors. The systems being taught are good to help young men deal with their fears of combat and gets them into the fight.  Guru Durazo wanted to make these men and women who were ready to fight, fight with intelligence and the natural flow of combat science. 

After many years working with both military and Law enforcement individuals and teams, Guru Durazo has listened to the needs of the operators.  It has been a collaboration of ancient technology fusing or flowing with modern weaponry.  An operator will be able to flow from a firearm to a natural weapon answer( hand) back to a firearm or a bladed weapon. 

He understands the limitations of the time most operators have to engrain new technologies.  Guru Durazo builds the foundations and fundamentals based on their shooting education.  He also stresses that it is not the technology that will save you, it will be your combative mindset.  This technology is just more tools to add to your toolbox of answers.

Guru Durazo teaches law enforcement in accordance with the policies of the department and their guidelines.  The force continuum is always present in the building blocks of intinial learning.  Law enforcement needs to have answers that will help create time and distance to transition to other uses of force.  Officers also need quick answers that can create pain compliance and begin to out cycle the attackers intent.  Guru Durazo calls this "erasing the intent."

Guru Durazo teaches military a continuous flow of lethal technologies.  This technology includes training with full gear and weapons. Weapon placement is stressed for firearm and bladed weapons and when and how natural weapon technology can be used for fatal answers.  "Train how you plan to fight."  

Guru Durazo is the representative for Manu Gardea.  He teaches using the SEACA SYSTEMA philosophies and methods given to him by "Manu."  

Brian Esperum
Assistant Combatives Instructor

Brian is a second generation Phoenix Police Officer and has been for over 13 years. During this time he has worked the streets in a patrol capacity and under cover operations, where he has experience with routing officer survival, surveillance techniques, undercover operations, communication and investigations.  Brian’s most recent assignment has been to the SWAT team. He deals primarily with negotiations, search warrant/barricade entries, intelligence gathering and constant tactical and communications training. Brian has been a private student of Guru Durazo’s and his Grandmaster Manu for the past 3 years and he is an assistant instructor for Guru Durazo.

Ed Morales
Assistant Combatives Instructor

Ed Morales enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1994. After serving four years in the intelligence field, Ed was accepted to Officer Candidate School and served his last tour as a commissioned officer. Ed became a police officer in 2003. He has worked patrol, Criminal Apprehension Team, undercover narcotics, and is a member of the department’s SWAT team. Ed is a breacher on the entry team. Ed has studied various martial arts throughout his life and is a law enforcement defensive tactics instructor. Ed began studying with Guru Durazo after attending a law enforcement seminar taught by Guru Durazo. Ed has taught combatives for SWAT, undercover narcotics (including vehicle fighting), patrol and counter grappling.

 

Christopher Trapp
Assistant Combatives Instructor

Christopher Trapp is a 14 year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department and has been assigned to the department’s tactical team for the past four years. His current responsibilities are entry team member, less lethal deployment and explosive breaching. Chris has extensive teaching experience in the private sector as well as the law enforcement community. His area of emphasis is all aspects of low light conflict and maximizing efficiency in a tactical environment.
